Does any of this sound like you, or someone you love?
You don't need a definitive answer to book — just a question. These are the experiences that bring most of our patients in, at any age.
Things ADHD often sounds like
In children, adolescents and adults- I keep starting things and not finishing them.
- Time feels different to me — I lose hours, miss deadlines, run late.
- I'm great in a crisis but useless with routine, boring tasks.
- My brain has seventeen tabs open and they're all important.
- I've been told I 'should be doing better' my whole life.
- I procrastinate even when I really, really want to do the thing.
Things autism often sounds like
In children, adolescents and adults- I've spent my life feeling like everyone got a manual I didn't.
- Sounds, lights, textures or smells can overwhelm me
- I need recovery time after socialising — even with people I love.
- I have deep, focused interests that have lasted years.
- Change in plans throws me off — I need warning, I need predictability.
- I take things literally and people sometimes get frustrated with me.
What assessment changed for patients like you.
Six anonymised stories — what brought each patient in, what was diagnosed, and what shifted. Self-referred, parent-referred, late diagnosis, combined diagnosis. Every patient consented to share.
“I'd convinced myself I was just lazy. The assessment changed everything.”
“We finally have answers — and Sam has the support he's always needed.”
— Sam's mum, Leicester“Forty years of feeling alien. Now I have a name for it — and language to explain my needs.”
“Understanding why she struggles has changed everything for our family.”
— Rosie's dad, Leicester“Two NHS referrals had missed both. The combined assessment gave me the full picture.”
“I wish I'd known forty years ago. Knowing now is still life-changing.”
Everything you wanted to ask, before you book.
Real questions from real patients — about Right to Choose, NHS waiting lists, medication, what happens if you don't get a diagnosis, and how we make the assessment manageable.
ADHD and Autism assessments are made by GMC-registered Consultant Psychiatrists in line with NICE NG87 (ADHD) and CG142 / CG128 (Autism). A diagnosis is one part of a wider clinical picture — anything significant identified during your assessment is signposted to appropriate ongoing care.
